Flex Options

The Department of Labor, Women's Bureau, is sponsoring the Flex Options in the Workplace Program through out the United States. HR Systems has been contracted to assist businesses in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri implement this program with businesses at no cost. HR Systems has been working with companies in all four states to educate employers how to create flex schedules, part time jobs, job sharing and many others. How do supervisors learn to supervise?

It has been my experience that most supervisors have gained their supervisory experience in a "learn by doing" envirnoment. This trial and error method leaves both the company and supervisor at risk. Why do we spend time and effort testing and retesting a product but we leave our people management skills to "good luck" techniques? What is your company's practice?
